Different ion pairs exhibit different dissociation kinetics; however, while the nature of this process is vital for understanding various molecular systems, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. In this study, to examine the origin of different kinetic rate constants for this process, molecular dynamics simulations were conducted for LiCl, NaCl, KCl, and CsCl in water.

The cells were centrifuged for 10 min, 1500 rpm, resuspended in 450 µL of cold buffer A (10 mM HEPES, 10 mM KCl, 100 µM EDTA, 100 µM EGTA, inhibitor protease cocktail), incubated for 15 min and then 50 µL of 5% NP-40 were added to each sample. Samples were then centrifuged for 7 min at 4 °C for 6000 rpm.
